But would the Log Cabin Republicans hire Rev. Fred Phelps?
Report for December 6, 2003

A lesbian has filed suit with the Chicago Commission on Human Relations against a Christian college. It seems that she would like to go from working part-time with the college to working full-time. This raises two questions (at least):

1.) Why in the world did a Christian college hire a lesbian in the first place, even if only to a part-time job?

2.) Why does the sodomitess feel she has a right to be hired by a Christian college?

The answer to the first question has to be either:

a) The college did not know she was a lesbian until the full-time job came up, or
b) They had lost all their Bibles just before the lesbian applied for the job and could not remember anything from the Scriptures which would govern their actions in such a situation.

The answer to the second question is found in the title of this portion of our web site: "Homo-Fascist Watch." How long will it be before Christian schools and churches will be routinely prosecuted for not hiring sodomites?

CHRISTIAN COLLEGE CHALLENGED UNDER CHICAGO'S 'GAY RIGHTS' LAW

Will the rights of religious institutions fall victim to "sexual orientation" laws? That is the question facing North Park University, a Christian liberal arts college located on Chicago's northwest side which is being threatened with a lawsuit under Chicago's "gay rights" ordinance.

The case involves a part-time faculty member at the school whose lesbian lifestyle, she believes, is keeping her from a full-time teaching position on the school's tenure track. Barbara Kelly has filed her case with Chicago's Commission on Human Relations, charging North Park with unfair employment practices after the school failed to hire her for a full professorship.

Melissa Morriss-Olson, Senior Vice President of North Park University would not comment on the specifics of the lawsuit, but in a prepared statement said that the school is "a Christian university owned and operated by the Evangelical Covenant Church." The statement continued, "Our hiring policies reflect our Christian mission and our relationship to our sponsoring denomination. These policies state that 'full-time faculty are expected to be committed Christians in faith and action, as traditionally understood by the Evangelical Covenant Church.'

Her statement also referenced the school's policy with respect to sexual ethics, which says, in part, "God created people male and female, and provided for the marriage relationship in which two may become one. A publicly declared, legally binding marriage between one woman and one man is the one appropriate place for sexual intercourse. Heterosexual marriage, faithfulness within marriage, abstinence outside of marriage-these constitute the Christian standard," adding that, "Church statements such as this inform our University's decisions related to personnel and other matters."
