It
has been said that he who
frames the debate wins the argument. This is especially true in an age
when many people do not take the time to thoroughly examine the great
issues of the day and instead allow others to do their thinking for
them.
Today persons who commit
homosexual acts insist on being called gays and lesbians
because such names have a neutral, positive sound just as the term alcoholic
conveys a more positive, less accountable image than does drunkard.
The truth is, until recently, words such as gay
or lesbian were never used to describe persons who perform
homosexual acts. Instead, more descriptive, accurate nouns were used.
For instance, sodomite has long been utilized
to identify those who practice unnatural and physically dirty sexual
acts which violate and abuse the body.
Of course, the word sodomite itself is
derived from the term sodomy which describes an
act of extreme sexual perversion performed with some necessary variation
by both men and women sodomites. The name sodomy in turn originated from
the name of an ancient town, Sodom, which was the center
of a culture given over to homosexual activity and which was
consequently destroyed by God. (See Genesis, Chapters 18-19.)
Another term long used
to identify those who "change the natural use into that which is
against nature" (See Romans 1:24-32.) is bugger.
Under English common law, buggery was outlawed and punished, as it was
in America in all fifty states until 1961 and in Wisconsin until 1983. Noah
Webster, one of America's founding fathers and a renowned educator who
wrote An American Dictionary of the English Language, defined bugger
and buggery this way in his 1828 edition:
BUGGER:
One guilty of the crime against nature. A vile wretch; a term of
reproach.
BUGGERY: That unnatural and detestable crime of
carnal intercourse of man or woman with a beast; or of human beings
unnaturally with each other. Sodomy.
In a more moral age, homosexual acts were rightfully
considered the close relative of bestiality. To this day the prohibition
against public homosexual acts is grouped under Wisconsin State
Statute 944.17 along with a ban on sex with animals.
The Bible, the
"Laws of Nature's God" (See the Declaration of Independence.),
uses many words to describe homosexual acts including filthy, lawless,
and an abomination. That word abomination is used
several different ways in the Bible; but when used to describe
homosexual acts, the defined sense is that the act being described is so
evil as to be considered sinister and repulsive (Hebrew: Toebah).

Blackstone's Commentaries
on the Law: Sodomy: The infamous crime against nature
. . . of so dark a nature . . . a disgrace . . . a crime not fit
to be named. |
It is a measure of how far our civilization has
fallen that sodomites and buggers are now respectfully referred to as
"gays and lesbians" and rewarded with special legal protection
rather than punished for their acts by the civil government.
It is precisely because our nation has abandoned true
law and honest rhetoric that AIDS stalks our culture; and many
impressionable young people, desensitized to the evil of homosexual
acts, are being seduced to experiment with such behavior and then
convinced that they are "gay" or "lesbian."
Where will it all end?
Currently, many in the homosexual movement are working to lower or even
eliminate the age of sexual consent for children. Certainly once they
achieve that goal, we can expect to see a new positive name coined for
child molester.
He who frames the issue wins the debate.
Unfortunately for America's sodomite community, the debate is the only
thing that they are winning. They are losing their health; they are
losing their self-respect by publicly admitting to committing lewd,
filthy acts; and most importantly, they are storing up wrath for
themselves in the day of God's judgment (Jude 7).
The Good News
The good news is that God stands
ready to rescue the sodomite from his sin. God is willing to wash,
sanctify, and justify him "in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by
the Spirit of our God" (I Corinthians 6:9-11). But before that can
happen, the sodomite must experience godly sorrow (2 Corinthians 7:10)
for his sin and rebellion. He must repent for living in violation of
God's law and give his life to Christ. He will then become a new
creature in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). Remember, there is no such
thing as a "gay Christian" any more than there is such a thing
as a "Christian murderer" (I Timothy 1:9-11).
Famous Bible Teachers Condemn Sodomite
Sex
“...most unnatural and abominable wickedness...Sodomy...vile
affections which are worse than brutish...which cannot be thought of
without horror by those that have the least spark of virtue...other sins
level men with the beasts, but these sink them lower.”
Rev. Matthew Henry in his Commentary on the Whole Bible
“...that which is strange, improper, and unfit...the unnatural
filthiness of the Sodomites...”
Rev. Matthew Poole in his Commentary on
the Holy Bible
“...dirty, filthy, immoral...”
Rev. J. Vernon McGee in his Thru the Bible
Commentary
For the sake of
Christ and everyone involved including the sodomite, is it not time
moral citizens began to frame the debate over homosexuality? Those who
practice acts such as sodomy are the moral equivalent to those who
commit sexual acts with animals. There is nothing "gay" about
the sin or the life of sodomites and buggers. Such individuals need to
be prayed for, confronted, and restrained. They certainly do not benefit
from being pampered, encouraged, acquiesced to nor does the rest of our
culture, especially our children. |
