Wisconsin Christians United is asking Christians from
around the nation, and even the world, to contact Wisconsin Governor Scott
McCallum (wisgov@mail.state.wi.us)
to ask that he fulfill his duty as the chief executive of the state and
order the Department of Natural Resources to put an end to the tax-funded
nudity at Mazo Beach. The DNR oversees the beach and, according to
documents procured by WCU from DNR files, has made a behind-the-scenes
deal with attorneys from "naturist" groups to allow public
nudity, including involving children, to take place at Mazo Beach.
Governor McCallum is currently in a tight election
race, and so the time is right to ask him to protect public morality and
children by ordering the DNR, a state agency under his direct control, to
end the nudity at Mazo Beach. WCU has put out a request to our network of
Christians around the world to begin contacting McCallum, and they are
doing so. We would be grateful if Christian media would consider
amplifying the righteous chorus that has begun by finding ways to give out
Governor McCallum's contact points as well.
WCU director Pastor Ralph Ovadal has written Governor
McCallum and respectfully informed him that a campaign has begun to first
encourage him to do his duty regarding Mazo Beach and then, in the event
he does not, to hold him publicly accountable in the coming months in a
variety of ways for his lack of action. As Pastor Ovadal wrote the
governor, it is our hope and prayer that he will play the hero and be
faithful to his office by putting an end to the state-sponsored and funded
public nudity at Mazo Beach.
"The struggle over the nudity at Mazo Beach
transcends Wisconsin. The outcome of this battle has implications for the
entire nation. It has become clear to us, from our research, that the
nudists are using Mazo Beach as a precedence. Should they succeed in
establishing and defending a tax-funded public nude beach at Mazo, they
will soon make that exception the norm all across America. Sadly, when
Hugh Hefner was setting in motion the porn industry in the 1960s, most
Christians were silent. In the years prior to Roe v. Wade, when the
foundation for child killing was being laid, most Christians were silent.
In the late `70s and early `80s when the sexual anarchists were effecting
a radical overthrow of laws governing sexual conduct, the Church was for
the most part silent. The same people who brought us the porn epidemic,
unleashed a tidal wave of innocent bloodshed and helped turn America into
a sexual barnyard now want to tear down all barriers to public nudity.
Indeed they are attempting to have such nudity tax-funded! The Church of
Jesus Christ must not be silent this time! We must prevail in our battle
over Mazo Beach. By God's grace we will prevail."
Pastor Ralph Ovadal, Director, Wisconsin Christians United
"I'll assume that you're not interested in
attempting to enact a DNR property rule which bans nudity. . . . The DA
has publicly stated that if we have a ban on nudity, they would enforce
it."

Lutz to DNR Supervisor Ruthe Badger. Obtained from a WCU freedom of
information search.
SPECIAL NOTE: This evening, Pastor Ovadal and
his attorney, James Donohoo, will appear on the Fox Cable News program
"Hannity and Colmes" to discuss the Mazo nude beach.
