Today, June 15, a large number of Christians with WCU
are on the Mazo Beach parking lot and the one-mile gravel road leading to
the DNR's nude beach near Mazomanie, Wisconsin. The Christians are
preaching, holding signs, witnessing one-on-one, and handing out salvation
tracts.
Last evening, Pastor Ralph Ovadal and Attorney James
Donohoo appeared on the Fox News Network program "Hannity and Colmes"
to discuss the State of Wisconsin's creation and funding of a nude beach
where, according to DNR documents, up to 1,000 adults from around the
nation go nude, including in front of children and teenagers.
Up until recently, DNR officials have said there is no
law against public nudity. Then, after WCU showed that claim to be a lie,
DNR officials claimed that the Dane County district attorney will not
prosecute persons for appearing nude in public at Mazo Beach even if the
DNR enacted an administrative rule banning nudity. WCU has also exposed
that lie using the DNR's own records, so now DNR officials are claiming,
through DNR attorney James Kurtz, that the law against public nudity is
"situational." (World Net Daily, June 6, 2002, "State
joins tug of war over nude beach.")
"It is reprehensible that DNR officials are now
claiming that the law of the land is not to be uniformly and fairly
applied to all citizens but that exceptions can be arbitrarily carved out
for certain elite groups with the right pull.
"How long will the DNR persist in supporting
public nudity on public land in front of children? Perhaps they should
take a cue from the problems currently besetting the Roman Catholic
Church. For years, certain individuals in the church hierarchy covered for
sexual perverts at the expense of helpless children, steadfastly
maintaining that no wrong doing was taking place. Those children grew up
and began to tell their story, and now the entire Catholic Church has been
devastated by the years' long cover-up. The children of Mazo Beach will
grow up one day also and the full truth of the effect of that
government-sponsored adult entertainment center on the Wisconsin River
will be known."
