Covenant Church Public Ministry Update
February
8—April 2, 2007
Dear Friends,
Spring seems to be an extra busy time for everyone; so I intend to keep this PCC public ministry newsletter very short and to the point. The last two months have been encouraging and, we believe, fruitful ones. We have had some very good opportunities during our weekly witness in front of Planned Parenthood of Monroe. For instance, one week, I was able to have a good talk with a young, single, pregnant woman who had come to Planned Parenthood seeking to know her
"options." I warned her that abortion is not an option allowed by the Lord, but rather is murder. I also had ample opportunity to share the gospel. This young woman was truly in an unsettled, emotional state, caused, I believe at least in part, by conviction brought about by our witness and gospel signs. We have prayed for her salvation and her
baby's life.
Last newsletter, I reported on a
mailing about Planned Parenthood of Monroe which we distributed to just under 10,000 homes in our county. We must have hurt PPM bad because they spent a large sum of cash to put two large ads in a local paper, apparently in an attempt to rehabilitate what little is left of their reputation!
Mike Foht has also had some very good opportunities while manning his post in front of the abortion mill in Madison and during a weekly gospel witness on
Madison's State Street with a faithful brother, Dale Stanford.

Sharing
the way of salvation
at London market. |
My two daughters, along with two sisters in the Lord, were blessed to do some gospel ministry on foreign soil for several weeks in March, handing out hundreds of our
gospel tracts on the streets of Ulster, or as many people know it, Northern Ireland, and also England. In the first country, they handed out tracts in the town of Newry, at
Queen's University in Belfast, and also in Belfast city center.
 |
 |
|
Ministering to
Muslims in London. |
In England, they handed out tracts, including to many Muslim women, at an open-air market in London. The four Christian ladies also handed out gospel tracts at various other points along their journey and were privileged to take part in an open-air gospel service led by Pastor John Greer in Ballymena, Ulster. The four also were blessed to hear the Word of God preached with power while attending
fourteen church services and meetings in the time they were in the UK. Of course, the only PCC ministry funds used for the entire trip were for the gospel tracts.

"For the word of God is quick, and
powerful, and sharper than any
twoedged sword." (Hebrews 4:12) |
On March 3 and 17, PCC engaged in a gospel witness at the WIAA boys wrestling championships and the WIAA boys basketball championships. Each time, we were blessed to be joined by Dale Stanford. The night of the wrestling championships was a very cold and windy one. The event was held at the U of WI Fieldhouse, and some UW officials attempted to chase us off, saying we could not be on state property. But we held our ground, and the police backed us up. We handed out a good number of
gospel tracts and felt blessed to have had the opportunity. The boys basketball tournament also went very well. We handed out 2,500
gospel
tracts, and we noticed far fewer were thrown away as compared to other years.

|
Dale and Mike busy
about their Master's business. |
We had an added ministry bonus when a protest march against the Iraq war turned off of the street and marched right up the long, broad sidewalk to the Kohl Center, where the basketball championships are held and where we were ministering, along with our gospel signs and banners. The protesters paused for a sidewalk rally and then marched past us. We were able to hand out some gospel tracts to the mostly very obnoxious, anti-Christian crowd, and I was able to preach to them.
 |
|
War protesters read
the Gospel of John. |
A most encouraging thing happened when a freaky-looking young man dressed in leather came over and asked if a certain verse was in the Bible. I assured him it was and showed it to him. We then talked about the Bible, and I asked him if he would like a Gospel of John to read. He was genuinely grateful to receive the Gospel. A short time later, we saw him reading it aloud to his friends. None of them were mocking; and in fact, both the reader and the listeners seemed very sober and respectful as the Word of God ministered to them in ways only God knows. We were also able to give out a Gospel of John to another man a bit later. As usual after a gospel ministry, we went home rejoicing in the Lord.
 |
|
Preaching to the parade. |
And, as usual, our lit dropping continues, including Mike
Foht's weekly "anti-homosexuality" drops and gospel lit dropping by some of the rest of us.
"The Heart of the
Matter" program also continues to bear fruit and, according to reports, be a great encouragement and benefit to brethren in the USA and other countries.

Yes,
that's one of ours in the middle.
How did you guess? |
There has been a very encouraging development relating to the Mazo nude beach which we have so long fought against. In line with my promise to keep things short, I will simply refer you to an
enclosed Associated Press report and sign off here by expressing my gratitude to all of you who help us persevere in this important work, including enabling us to buy the immense amounts of literature which PCC distributes every month.
Sincerely,
Pastor Ralph

With
Friends Like Albert Mohler, Who Needs Enemies?
By Pastor Ralph Ovadal
"O Timothy, keep
that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings,
and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have
erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen." 1 Timothy
6:20-21
Recently, Rev. R. Albert
Mohler, Jr., the president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary,
managed to enrage the citizens of New Sodom and, at the same time, give
their corrupt agenda a good shot in the arm. Mohler made the sodomites a
bit more mad—I believe that would be the appropriate multipurpose
word—than they already are by suggesting his support for the development
of prenatal sexual orientation screening and prenatal medical treatment to
"reverse the sexual orientation" of babies found to be
homosexual.
The offending remarks were
made in a lengthy article written by the influential Mohler, titled
"Is Your Baby Gay? What If You Could Know? What If You Could Do
Something About It?" Albert Mohler's article did a great service for
the sodomites' cause. I have no doubt that after their first, and typical,
temper tantrum had ebbed, sodomites, along with their friends far and
wide, realized just what a gift they had been handed. A quote in a recent
AP story provides evidence of that very thing: "Dr. Jack Drescher, a
New York City psychiatrist critical of those who consider homosexuality a
disorder, commended Mohler's openness to the prospect that it is
biologically based. 'This represents a major shift,' Drescher said. 'This
is a man who actually has an open mind, who is struggling to reconcile his
religious beliefs with facts that contradict it.'"
And that is exactly what
Reverend Mohler is doing. Rather than stand by the Word of God in the face
of contrived scientific "knowledge," he has made "science
falsely so called" the final authority in all matters of faith and
practice. As I said, Reverend Mohler's article is lengthy. It is also a
classic, confused mixture of objective truth and subjective reasoning with
a heavy emphasis on the latter. President Mohler's thesis seems to be
that, while he is not saying that homosexuals are born that way, they
probably are born that way because science will probably prove as much;
therefore Christians need to change their thinking and doctrine in order
to be in sync with the pending scientific conclusion that sodomites were
born sodomites. In his article, Reverend Mohler makes points too numerous
to quote and critique in this article, points such as the following:
"1. There is, as of
now, no incontrovertible or widely accepted proof that any biological
basis for sexual orientation exists.
"2. Nevertheless,
the direction of the research points in this direction. Research into
the sexual orientation of sheep and other animals, as well as human
studies, points to some level of biological causation for sexual
orientation in at least some individuals.
"3. Given the
consequences of the Fall and the effects of human sin, we should not be
surprised that such a causation or link is found. After all, the human
genetic structure, along with every other aspect of creation, shows the
pernicious effects of the Fall and of God's judgment."
Upon reading Reverend
Mohler's long—and quite frankly, convoluted—article as well as a
follow-up article, it becomes clear that he believes sodomites are
"born that way" but should not act out their orientation since
that would be sin. For instance, he says such things as:
• "We sin against
homosexuals by insisting that sexual temptation and attraction are
predominately chosen. . . . Christians must be very careful not to claim
that science can never prove a biological basis for sexual
orientation."
• "Caring
Christians will be aware of the fact that many persons who struggle with
homosexuality—males and females—testify as Christian believers or as
those troubled in conscience that they simply have no idea where
same-sex desire originated in their lives. They do know that they did
not choose this pattern of attraction."
For decades, the foundation
of New Sodom's perverted platform has been the constantly repeated lie
that homosexuality is biologically determined and no one chooses to be
"gay." Many of the gains made by the sodomites can be attributed
to the acceptance of that lie in certain political circles and among a
certain percentage of the American public. Now Albert Mohler has added
some fuel to the sodomites' spreading fire. From his article, it is
apparent that Reverend Mohler is most impressed by some "sexual
partner preference testing" recently done on sheep! The scientists
involved claim a certain percentage of the rams turned out to be bisexual
and homosexual. Based on that "science falsely so called,"
Mohler has committed the classic error of the modern higher critic. He has
decided that the Word of God must be interpreted by science when the two
seem to clash. And the Bible does clash with the notion that human beings
commit homosexual acts because they are biologically programmed and born
as sodomites.
For instance, Romans
1:26-27 states, "For this cause God gave them up unto vile
affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that
which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural
use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men
working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that
recompense of their error which was meet."
The truth unambiguously
stated by God Himself in that passage and supported by the whole counsel
of His Word is that those who commit homosexual acts change from what is
natural to what is against human nature as created by God. They were not
born with a homosexual "orientation" that caused them to be
sexually attracted to persons of the same gender as themselves. In light
of his sweeping, unsupported claim that the fall of man caused a change in
"human genetic structure" which in turn biologically programmed
a certain percentage of men and women to be sodomites right from birth, I
would remind Reverend Mohler that Paul wrote Romans well after the fall!
Yes, every human being is born with a sin nature and no original
righteousness, but that is not the same as being born biologically ordered
by one's very nature to be a sodomite and commit the sin declared by God's
revealed Word and law of nature to be "against nature." Reverend
Mohler can throw in his lot with a few heathen scientists and a bunch of
sheep (not to mention goats spiritually speaking) if he likes; I intend to
stick with the immutable Word of God.
And speaking of nature,
Mohler ought also to be reminded that animals are not humans, and humans
are not animals. Animals, even the most intelligent, are dumb beasts
driven by blind instinct, hormones, and breeding cycles which can be
manipulated to produce a certain amount of so-called "gay
behavior."
By the way, there are also
no studies on humans which have come anywhere close to proving any
kind of "biological causation" for homosexuality. There is only
a lot of wishful thinking, mighty striving, and baseless
conclusion-drawing by a few researchers who have not proven anything even
to their own peers—nothing, that is, other than their penchant for
coming to a baseless conclusion and then trying to manipulate their shoddy
research into a fantasy they call "scientific proof."
In his article, Reverend
Mohler endorsed the use of prenatal treatment on babies with homosexual
"orientation" in order "to reverse the sexual orientation
to heterosexual" should such treatment ever become available. This
begs the question, What about treatment to reverse "fornication
orientation" or "false witness orientation," or what about
"rape orientation"? How about "ungrateful heart
orientation"? The Mohler doctrine, if taken to its logical
conclusion, would mean that science may well have the capability to
someday create sinless human beings.
Certainly, there are many
aspects of Rev. Albert Mohler's article which would warrant an in-depth
biblical critique and, quite frankly, warrant condemnation by all
Christians who tremble at His Word (Isaiah 66:5). But hoping to have
provided some food for thought, I close with one final, brief point. Has
Reverend Mohler too long been breathing the ecumenical air of the Southern
Baptist world? I say that because his "born that way but just don't
act it out" theory of homosexuality harmonizes nicely with Roman
Catholic dogma which insists that homosexuality is an "intrinsic
disorder" and a "trial" for those born with a so-called
homosexual orientation. According to the pope et al., homosexuals
cannot help that they were born "gay," but they are not to
commit homosexual acts. In light of that, is it any wonder the Associated
Press reported Mohler's argument was endorsed by a prominent Roman
Catholic thinker, the Reverend Joseph Fessio, provost of Ave Maria
University in Naples, Florida and editor of Ignatius Press, Pope Benedict
XVI's U.S. publisher? "'Same-sex activity is considered disordered,'
Fessio said. 'If there are ways of detecting diseases or disorders of
children in the womb, and a way of treating them that respected the
dignity of the child and mother, it would be a wonderful advancement of
science.'"
With his willingness to
subordinate the Word of God to "science falsely so called" and
give support to the "born that way" theory, Rev. Albert Mohler
has strengthened the hand of the enemies of the Lord and His church. As
one who has for several decades put a good deal of effort into defending
biblical truth and Christian liberty against sodomite lies and
homo-fascism, I can't help but ask, With friends like Albert Mohler, who
needs enemies?

Another
Great News Article on Mazo
----- Original Message -----
From: Pilgrims Covenant Church
Sent: Wednesday, March 28, 2007 9:40 AM
The Lord has blessed us
with another great news article on Mazo! For instance, note that the
writer states that the nudists approve "of the DNR's attempts
to control sexual activity on the
beach." I bet old Bob Morton is not exactly
happy with that paraphrase of his position! Note also the quote AP put in
from me, which is considerably longer than the pervert's and hits a number
of the themes which we have harped on—themes which hurt the nudists'
cause.
- Mazo beach was never meant to even be a
beach, but rather is part of a wildlife and fishing area.
- The nudists are a special interest group
which has taken over the beach and thus excluded everyone but nudists
from using the public, tax-funded wildlife area.
- Because of the nudity being allowed on
the beach, it has become a mecca for perverts.
- The perverts parade themselves naked in
front of children and this on public property.
By the way, for the
uninitiated, we never protest on the beach where the nudity takes place
but only on the parking lot and mile-long walk up to the beach. And the
$1,000 fine was not for "harassing" anyone. It was for rebuking
an exceedingly wicked middle-aged nudist woman threatening to expose
herself to some of our young men. I also preached the gospel to her. I had
the misfortune to have the case tried in front of a vile, crooked judge in
Madison, Wisconsin. It was a set-up job and down hill from there. After
finding me "guilty" of state disorderly conduct, he fined me
$1,000 and gave no alternative sentence. He stated if I did not pay the
fine, he would continue to refine me for contempt and repeat the whole
process. Shortly after the trial, a kind Christian man from another area,
without me asking, paid the fine. We are consoled to know that the state
has certainly made no profit on the Mazo beach fight!

Willow Trees Cut Down at Wis. Nude Beach
The Associated Press
Tuesday, March 27, 2007; 5:07 PM
MADISON, Wis. -- Willow trees lining the
Mazomanie nude beach on the Wisconsin River have been removed to reduce
alleged sexual activity and provide more sun for nesting turtles, the
state Department of Natural Resources says.
"These willows just became a cruising
area for people looking for sexual activity out there," Steve Colden,
the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway's property manager, said Monday in an
interview with The Capital Times of Madison.
The nude beach has been used by naturists
for more than 50 years.
Bob Morton, executive director of the
Naturist Action Committee, said his Oshkosh-based group approved of the
DNR's attempts to control sexual activity on the beach.
"If there is overt sexual activity in
public, it jeopardizes the beach," he said.
"Naturists do know the difference
between nudity and sex and we wish everyone did."
Colden said cutting the willow trees would
also help soft-shell and hard-shell turtles which nest on the beach. A DNR
biologist noticed a decrease in the number of nesting turtles because the
beach had become too shaded by the willows, he said.
A wooded area next to the beach will also
be closed to the public from April 1 to Sept. 15 to prevent sexual
activity from moving there, Colden said.
Ralph Ovadal, pastor of Pilgrims Covenant
Church in Monroe, and a small group of his followers started protesting at
the beach in 1998. He was convicted of disorderly conduct and fined $1,000
for harassing a sunbather in 2001.
He praised the DNR's decision to cut down
the trees.
"I do hope the day is not far
off," Ovadal said, "when Mazo beach is once again fully restored
to its original use as a wildlife area and available for the enjoyment of
all the citizens of Wisconsin, rather than being a mecca for individuals
who have a desire to parade themselves stark naked on public property in
front of children."
