Dear Friends,

The past several months we have received more than the usual nasty, threatening, and even obscene e-mails and phone calls from folks who do not like our ministry efforts. In anticipation of our seventh summer of standing against the unlawful nude beach near Mazomanie, Wisconsin, we are already receiving “correspondence” from the naturist crowd. Due to an article I wrote, a “Heart of the Matter” program, and a sermon I preached on the passing of the pope, I have received all sorts of angry comments from Roman Catholic people who have felt it necessary that I understand that I am, among many other things, a deceiver, sick, evil, hateful, cruel, possessed by demons, unloving, vicious, narrow-minded, judgmental, and Satan. It does not matter how often one expresses concern for the souls of the Roman Catholic people and shares the gospel with them; anyone who stands against the heresy of the pope and the Roman church quickly becomes the target of the same sort of vitriol which also flows so freely from the homosexuals and others who are dead in trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1).

Of course, we continue to hear plenty from New Sodom. But I want you to know that the Lord continues to constantly bless us with encouragement. For instance, recently, a lesbian wrote to me asking, “Will God shed His grace and show mercy” to her? I wrote back, sharing many things and many Scripture passages. Since she also was under the impression she was a Christian, I encouraged her to listen to a sermon I had just given which is titled “Redeemed or Reprobate?” My sermons are found at pcc.sermonaudio.com, and the woman immediately listened to the message. Lastly, I promised we could call her if she would give us a phone number. The woman wrote back to me, beginning her letter with, “Thank you so much for returning my message. I also respect and appreciate your honesty.” She then shared that she had been on the verge of suicide but that God would not allow her to do what she had wanted to do. So much for those who tell us we should not share the whole counsel of God’s Word with homosexuals as it might cause them to commit suicide! Those who say such things do err, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God (Matthew 22:29). The Word of God preached as it is written brings life, not death! There are times when we discern that God’s law has already done its work in the heart of the sinner, and then we are free to go right to speaking of His grace. But God’s law must always precede God’s grace, and it is a deadly error to assume the saving of souls is the work of men rather than the work of the Holy Ghost! To make a long, glorious story short, one of my daughters spoke on the phone with the lady. She received everything that was shared with her and agreed to have us find a good fundamentalist church for her.

PCC/WCU prints and distributes tracts dealing with Roman Catholicism, abortion, and homosexuality which all also contain the gospel. We also have a regular gospel tract. Every week, those brochures and tracts are being lit dropped and handed out here in Wisconsin as well as in other states. Currently, every brochure on homosexuality we lit drop to Wisconsin homes and businesses also contains an insert on the need to pass a state constitutional amendment banning so-called same-sex marriage and state civil unions. With such bountiful sowing going on, of course we can expect the Lord to bless us with some reaping. He has been doing just that; and we know for every good thing we see, the Lord is doing much more we do not see.

We must also expect the devil and those who serve him to continue to breathe threats. This is especially true when speaking of the homosexual community. In one of the many confrontations which took place between Jesus and the scribes and Pharisees, our Lord told those religious leaders, “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it” (John 8:44). We should not be surprised that those who champion the devil’s cause lie with such aplomb. Certainly “out and proud” sodomites are lying to themselves when they claim to follow Jesus, and they seem never to hesitate to lie about those who defend the biblical truth about homosexuality. Sodomites lie for any number of reasons, besides that lying comes naturally to them (Galatians 5:19-26). They lie because they cannot defend their position against those armed with truth. They lie because their whole strategy for victory revolves around ridiculing, demonizing, marginalizing, and destroying the credibility of their enemies.

Recently, I came across another example which highlights the extent to which sodomites will go to destroy their enemies. For years, a homosexual named Mike Fitzpatrick has seized every opportunity to express his hatred for me, and he has not hesitated to lie about me. Fitzpatrick was a columnist with the now defunct sodomite paper Wisconsin Light. Currently, he writes for another “gay” publication. Not long ago, I came across an article he had written about me which was riddled with blatant distortions. Fitzpatrick began by mockingly suggesting a recent assault on Mike Foht during a WCU picket in Burlington never happened but was simply part of a “martyrdom of the majority ploy” by me. If Fitzpatrick were the ace journalist he would like others to think he is, he would have called the Burlington police department and found out that a suspect had been taken into custody in that attack.

Later in the article, Fitzpatrick tells his readers that I am “currently fighting an incident where he physically abused a woman at Mazomanie park.” Of course, that is a flat-out lie, and Fitzpatrick knows that full well. Several years ago, I was charged with disorderly conduct for preaching to a vile, obscenity-spewing woman on the Mazomanie Beach parking lot. Fitzpatrick knows I never laid a hand on her and was never charged with anything physical. Fitzpatrick also claims I am suing a homosexual political group when he knows full well I have no such lawsuit! There are many other lies in Fitzpatrick’s article titled “The Latest Fine Whine from Rantin’ Ralph.” As a final example, consider this statement about me: “He has never taken up any direct offer to debate from such notables as Tammy Baldwin, openly-gay Assembly Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Madison), and even the state Log Cabin’s former Executive Director and former Bush AIDS czar Scott Evertz.” In reality, I have jumped at every chance to defend the truth and have done so on various television programs with all of the individuals named, although those debates were certainly much shorter than I would have liked. I have publicly offered to debate, in an extended format, any homosexual leaders who have the courage to do so but have never had any of them accept that offer. In 1999, I took part in an extended panel-style debate against a number of pro-sodomite theologians on the campus of Lawrence University. I had a great time, and truth had its day; but that is the extent of the chances I have had to formally debate homosexuality in an extended format. If Mike Fitzpatrick wants to contact me and get the ball rolling on a public debate, I am all for it. But that is not Mike’s way. He specializes in lies and vicious mocking of those who disagree with him. In 2000, he went so far as to publish an article in the Wisconsin Light claiming that I had announced I was “gay” and had left my wife! He has since smugly confessed in writing that the article was published with “not a clue as to the fictional nature” of it. And so it goes.

Although I have talked much about our battle with New Sodom and our attempts to share the gospel with sodomites, Pilgrims Covenant Church and Wisconsin Christians United are engaged in a wide range of ministry efforts, and we deeply appreciate your continued support and prayers. Wisconsin Christians United is now a ministry of Pilgrims Covenant Church, which I pastor. Those who support WCU should send their gifts to Pilgrims Covenant Church and designate them as being for “public ministry.” To avoid confusion, we are going to continue to use the WCU name in conjunction with Pilgrims Covenant Church for quite some time and eventually phase out its use altogether. We will be doing all the same ministry work, but it will be done as a church ministry rather than a parachurch ministry. I believe that will be a good witness to the general public and will build up the Lord’s Church.

A real education at the
library—the front door.

A Big Night for a Small Town

On Thursday night, February 17, a leftist, liberal group calling itself Citizens United of Union-Evansville held an educational forum on “same-sex marriage” in the Evansville public library. The event consisted of sodomite propagandists extolling the virtues of sodomite life and denouncing as unloving, unconstitutional, and unconscionable all opposition to the state bestowing the title and legal benefits of marriage upon sodomite couplings. Well before the meeting began, twelve Christians with WCU surrounded the library with large signs bearing biblical messages about homosexuality, marriage, and salvation. We also gave out our brochure Homosexuality: The Truth, complete with an insert dealing with so-called same-sex marriage. We received some gratifying support from local individuals who stopped to ask us what was going on, and we had the opportunity to share the gospel with a number of people. We also received the usual vitriolic response from Sodom’s citizens and their friends attending the forum. Local police were friendly and professional. When the forum ended, we were still on hand to preach to those exiting. All in all, it was a wonderful, truth-filled night and a real discouragement to Sodom’s propagandists.

Conflict with Communists in Colorado

In February, I led a team of ten Christians to Colorado Springs, Colorado to once again confront crypto-commie Danny Yu and his Chinese state church friends at their annual forum on the church in China (see “Red Wolves with Black Hearts”). This year’s event was held at the sprawling complex belonging to the mega-ministry Cook Communications. That building occupies the center of a large acreage on the eastern edge of Colorado Springs. There are two driveways into it. We divided into teams and manned both entrances, holding signs and giving out a flyer telling the truth about Danny Yu and his state church friends. Altogether during our three visits to CC, we manned our posts for nine hours.

Our Colorado team with some
of the signs we used.

The driveway in front of the Cook Communications facility is at least a half mile long. We had many good interactions with Cook Communications employees and gave out much literature at that site. Some employees were shocked to hear the truth about the forum taking place in the building where they work and said they were on our side. The Chinese church officials were anything but friendly. At one point, a car load of Chinese stopped, and an American forum official with the group snarled at us, “Why don’t you get a f-----g job!”

We also had the opportunity to speak with the head of a huge national evangelical organization as he was heading into the forum to give an address. The man took our literature and listened intently to our concerns. As he was leaving, he spoke with us again with the agreement that we would not share his name. Our witness to this influential leader as he was on the way in to speak convicted him to modify his message and tell the audience that he looked forward to the day when there would be “true freedom of religion” in China. During his remarks, he also thanked the Lord for the work that we were doing outside. This evangelical leader told us concerning Yu and Co., “You are right; they are all communists.”

The team at the other side of Cook Communications not only manned that entrance with signs and literature, but also had an ideal place to preach. We stood on a bank which towered over the parking lot and preached down to forum attendees and CC employees morning and night. We encouraged the latter to take a stand for the real church in China, now that they know the truth. We preached many things to the Chinese state church officials, including asking them the question, Who is the head of your church? We reminded them that Christ is the Head of the Church and no true church of His can submit itself to the state as head. We exhorted them to remember that Christ “suffered without the gate” and that we are to “go therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach” (Hebrews 13:13). Often van loads of the Chinese would stand for a time and listen to us. May God bring conviction and repentance where that is still possible. The preaching conditions were so ideal that our other team, well over a half mile away on the other side of the Cook Communications complex could hear our message!

The point from which we preached
at Cook Communications.

In addition to confronting Yu and his pack of wolves at the forum site, several of our group also greeted Chinese forum delegates one morning at their hotel by holding up signs in front of the large window of the room where some of them were eating breakfast and in front of another window where a single Chinese official was sitting. Our people stayed put with their signs long enough to make a deep impression but short enough to keep from being arrested! Later, we also did an informational picket in front of that same hotel.

As is so often the case when we take truth to the streets, our voice was amplified through a number of media outlets—in this case, through interviews I did with several nationwide evangelical news services and a Colorado talk radio program.

Prior to the forum, we also mailed information packets to the Chinese Christian churches in the Colorado Springs area to make certain they would be alerted to Danny Yu’s treacherous attempt to convince Americans that Christ’s Church is respected and unmolested by the government of China. We count ourselves blessed to do such a small thing for those Christians in China who are suffering so much for Christ as His true Church. Back to top.

Focusing on Homosexuality in Mega-Ministry Land

While in Colorado Springs, we also conducted pickets to publicly proclaim the biblical truth about homosexuality and to share the gospel. At the first picket, we had more positive than negative response, although the latter did include some airborne objects. As usual, we were confronted by some neo-evangelical brethren who were appalled that we would be so unloving etc., etc. On the other hand, several Christians also stopped to encourage us. One was a street preacher who was enthusiastic about getting to know the local Christians who had joined us so that they could do ministry together! Praise the Lord for this strengthening of His work in Colorado!

One corner of one of our
pickets in Colorado Springs.

Our second picket took place just down the street from the palatial headquarters of James Dobson’s Focus on the Family. The area is the home of a number of other large ministries and mega-churches as well. At this picket, we again became the target of some thrown objects, and we also became the target of some real anger directed at us by Christians who felt compelled to stop and reprove us. In one case, we were confronted by an impeccably dressed middle-aged woman who boasted of having “years” of ministry experience. This lady felt the need to park her car and confront us up close and in-person for our lack of love in using the word sin on our banners! She was outraged that we had chosen to confront homosexuality with a biblical proclamation including such truth as “Repent ye, and believe the gospel” and “Christ can set you free.” I was sternly instructed by the lady that the only correct way to share the truth of God’s Word is to first develop a close personal relationship with a sinner and then eventually share the gospel with him. I begged to differ and asked her how that would have worked for Peter on Pentecost when three thousand souls were saved! As I answered all her objections with Scripture, she mocked and attempted to talk over me. She ended by tearing up some of our literature and throwing it into the air like confetti. In fact, by then it was confetti. As our teacher drove away, we watched to see if she would take the turn into Focus on the Family. She did, but she may have been involved in another ministry and was just visiting FOF. Or maybe not, given the confused, compromised stand FOF has often taken on homosexuality.

Following our run-in with the iron butterfly, we were approached by several young women thoroughly indoctrinated in the false gospel and false compassion of false preachers such as their hero Rick Warren. These young ladies had also stopped to give us a piece of their minds. By the grace of God, I was able to “talk them down” from their suicidal perch on the ledge of neo-evangelicalism. They ended up listening intently as I spoke about law and grace, open-air ministry, revival, and other such matters. By the end of our interaction, the young sisters were respectfully calling me sir and seemed genuinely moved by the truth they had heard. May the Lord grant us patience and compassion for those young Christians who have been so deceived by the false preachers and false doctrines of our apostate age. Back to top.

And a Little Ministry in Stuart on the Way Home

On our way home from Colorado Springs, we literature dropped homes in the town of Stuart, Iowa with the brochure Homosexuality: The Truth. This is a very comprehensive pamphlet with an extensive gospel message. By the phone calls and e-mails received at WCU’s office, it is clear that the town had been well-stirred by our visit. It was most gratifying that among the less-than-favorable responses, we also received an encouraging letter from a Stuart pastor who began by writing, “We are praying for your work in Iowa,” and ended with, “Keep telling the truth and we will do the same. May the Lord bless your ministry!” Back to top.

Handing out tracts at the
basketball championships.

Wisconsin Christians United was on hand to display banners, preach, witness, and hand out salvation tracts to the crowds attending the WIAA girls (March 12) and boys (March 18) basketball tournaments in Madison again this year. We spent one day at each tournament. As might be expected, the boys tournaments drew much larger crowds, but there were fewer of us due to a snow storm raging just north of Madison. But “there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few” (1 Samuel 14:6). Only six of us gave out four thousand gospel tracts to crowds as they arrived throughout the day for three consecutive games. May the Lord bring an abundant harvest of souls from those days of gospel sowing, much of which was done in young hearts! Back to top.

Bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Followers of Joseph Smith

The weekend of Saturday, April 2, Mormons worldwide gathered in their local “churches” to watch via satellite the proceedings of the semiannual Mormon convention live from Salt Lake City, Utah. Pilgrims Covenant Church was present to greet Mormons arriving at the newly built Mormon church in Monroe. Praise the Lord, the turnout of Mormons was far lower than we expected. We were able to get the driver of every arriving car, minus one, to take a booklet comparing true Christianity with Mormonism. Unfortunately, once the Mormon official running the show found out what we were up to, he took direct action to keep the truth from being revealed to his flock. This “Elymas” (Acts 13:8) met each car load of Mormons as they were parking and literally ripped our literature out of their hands. However, he could not stop our preaching the Word of God and pointing out that there is something wrong when a religious figure claiming to be Christian will not allow those under his charge to read what the Bible says as compared to the doctrines of his religion. We pray our efforts will bring some light into that dark Mormon culture just getting started in Monroe. We intend to do some lit dropping of Monroe homes with that same booklet mentioned and also do some more ministry in front of the Mormon church. We have a large sign made up which reads, “Choose you this day . . . Joseph Smith (hell) or Jesus Christ (heaven).” Back to top.

Persisting at Planned Parenthood

We are continuing to picket, counsel, hand out tracts, and preach at Planned Parenthood of Monroe, which is now only open five hours per week. Our signs not only deal with abortion, but they also expose Planned Parenthood as tax-funded unborn child killers and born child perverters. Of course, we always have gospel signs as well. Mike Foht and I handle the preaching on site. When PP’s customers arrive, Mike preaches to them as they get out of their cars and walk across the parking lot to the back of the PP building. As they walk up the side of the building to enter in the front, I preach until they go through the door. At Planned Parenthood, we are reaching many young people with the truth at a time they are in critical need of it. We have no doubt that the Lord has saved many souls and unborn lives through this ministry at Planned Parenthood in which we have been engaged since January of 1989. We look forward to the day that the Lord gives us the final victory over Planned Parenthood here in Monroe. One of our church members also maintains a weekly witness at the PP clinic in Waukesha. Back to top.

Last But Not Least

PCC/WCU missionary Mike Foht continues to labor in ministry work four days per week. Mike pickets at Planned Parenthood and counsels at abortion mills in Milwaukee and Madison. He lit drops our brochures on homosexuality door-to-door in various towns at least one day per week and sometimes several days per week. Mike also street preaches at least once per week somewhere in southern Wisconsin and takes part in all scheduled PCC/WCU ministry efforts. At a recent picket in Burlington, Wisconsin, Mike was physically attacked by a “burly” young man who also damaged the “Homosexuality is sin” sign Mike was holding. The young man was arrested and charged with a crime, thanks to the quick action of some citizens who trailed him to his house.

We continue to get very encouraging feedback from around the world through the “Heart of the Matter” program (www.theheartofthematteronline.com). We also produce my sermons for airing on pcc.sermonaudio.com, and our church has a new web site which can be viewed at www.pccmonroe.com.

Several of us have been lit dropping Monroe homes with gospel tracts this winter during our spare time and our church is looking forward to open-air gospel ministry at a number of large public events this summer. The advent of this warm season also heralds the return of the “naturists” to the unlawful Mazo nude beach; and once again, PCC/WCU will be taking a stand on the parking lot and walk to the beach. Looking even farther ahead, our church is planning on hosting another Reformation Conference this fall; and Lord willing, we will be taking a mission trip to Salt Lake City, Utah in October to witness at the semiannual Mormon convention.

Your prayers are appreciated as are any gifts sent to support this broad spectrum of ministry efforts. It goes without saying, but we will say it anyway, we also greatly appreciate your friendship and your stand for the Lord in your area. Back to top.
